.. that is the question.

So.

I finished my redraft!  =D

That means both the things that were eating my time and energy the past 5-6 weeks are over and done with~

But.  I need to finish the first draft of the other book... I'd really rather take a break, but the past 6 weeks of CONSTANT.  DELAY.  have meant that I'm behind on writing it.  And if I don't want to get stuck with something I can't change, or various other just plain life getting in the way problems, I need to finish this book by New Year.  So I thought that maybe it would be fun to play along with NaNoWriMo.

So what is NaNoWriMo you ask?  It stands for National Novel Writing Month and it takes place every November.  You start a novel on the 1st November and then you have to finish it in 50k words or more by midnight on the 30th.  It's really helpful if you're one of those people who has trouble finishing a manuscript.  I used to be one of those people.  I guess I kind of still am.  It took me a LOT of years to finish Tyrian's book.  A LOT.  If you count the three total rewrites it had, it's taken 11 years so far.

Giving yourself a time limit and a setting yourself a word goal each day really helps with getting finished.  Especially when you hit the writing wall about 3/4s of the way through and go 'argh, this sucks, I suck, everyone will hate it!'.

So I have this unfinished book and books 2 and 3 bleed into one another a little, and I feel like I need to finish book 3 before I can be 100% okay with book 2.  Because sometimes things makes perfect sense to you until someone else goes 'Um, but what about this??'  And that is why beta readers X3

So I thought... why not play along with NaNoWriMo?

'But Alicia' I hear you cry, 'It's already the 7th!'  Well for one thing, I do have nearly 3 chapters written already and besides... I started a novel on the 7th back in 2007 and I STILL finished on time.  Only just, but I did finish.  What novel was it?  Eggs, Butter, Sugar and Disaster of course.

So I might attempt to play along with NaNo this year...

So yeah you might get more pictures of mermaids.

Of course I also have reviews to do and pending art to finish and I will, but I do need to finish this thing.

I feel really rusty with my drawing right now, but I will get back to comics soon!  Just bear with me.

Thanks,

Alicia

'I'll get a job', she'd thought. 'Earn my own ticket,' she'd thought. Lucinda's parents had agreed that it was a good idea. 'It'll teach you some responsibility,' they'd said.

Lucinda was currently staring down a dragon, dressed as a man, on only her first day in gainful employment. She suspected her parents would not think it such a good idea if they knew.

--------------
"Ambrosia. The Drink of the Gods. Thick, syrupy and vanilla flavoured, for some reason. It also contains enough calories to kill a mortal on the spot, so it's just as well that mortals are no longer mortals by the time they finish drinking it. Like Seralina, for example. She hadn't really meant to become a god. She hadn't taken the warning 'This will make of ye a god' seriously. It was her general policy not to trust any claim beyond 'It tastes all right, really'. She certainly didn't trust anything that sounded made-up or used words like 'dynamic'. Going round trusting words like 'dynamic' could get you into trouble. As it turned out, so could ignoring warning labels."
