VDBiF 15 - No It Doesn't

EDIT: I will have to change those drawings on the wall if I ever print these for selling, but hopefully my friends won't sue my butt for the time being XD

I just needed something to put on Will's wall. My mind and it were blank and this was all I could think of X3 Children's bedrooms are such good places for teesny cameos, aren't they? XD (I'm really very bad for doing it, but... whatevs.)

Also I changed the text further down. I'd always intended for Will's mother to list some specific, exciting-sounding monsters which is what got little Will all fired up, but I forgot somehow. Fixed it now.

Mrs. Winters, no. You're doing it wrong.

Don't tell a small boy that somewhere is horribly dangerous and full of monsters. It will only pique their interest. You should have told him that all the girls (and some of the boys) will want to kiss him, he wouldn't have gone within miles of the place...

In case you can't tell, Will's mother is an Otherworlder. She moved to Earth because she couldn't be having with all that magic and monster nonsense. His Dad is a regular Earthling. You'll meet him later.

You shouldn't get too excited over Will's fairy heritage. His great great grandmother was a fairy changeling. It was the usual 'there were some fairy maidens bathing in a pool, their magical robes hanging on a tree nearby' story. He might have a little bit of fairy left in there, perhaps some magical talent, a little longer lifespan, a little slower aging process... but he is very much human. In fact, both Tyrian and Erlina have a human great great grandparent (Tyrian's for a given value of 'human'). Fairies and humans interbreed quite often one way or another... fairies have a limited gene pool, so they steal/seduce/charm humans a lot. But you'd have to be at least quarter-fairy for it to have any real effect.

Will developed a fascination with Fairyland based on a combination of his own heritage, his mother's stories and his own research. His mother is the queen of 'vampires don't sparkle' although she's more the queen of 'NOTHING SPARKLES' - because quite a lot of folklore creatures are very much so of the unsparkly variety... she gets very cross at Earth's media and stories that pay no heed to the old tales, and she made sure to tell Will all the old versions of things. It's thanks to her that he's still alive. But the stories also fascinated him, and Fairyland has the most diverse population in the known Otherworlds.

So.. thanks Mrs. Winters. You ensured that your son went just where you didn't want him to go ^-^; But at least you prepared him well...
