Fairy Lioness

Description

This is a character from a French fairy tale called 'The Benevolent Frog'. Though initially described as a giantess, the fairytale goes on to call her 'The Fairy Lioness' and then continues to call her a fairy. She is described as wearing only a lion skin and a snakeskin to hold up her hair.

I tried to draw another thing from this fairytale, but I failed on account of being tired and it being difficult and i'll try again tomorrow because it's just TOO AWESOME/STUPID.

Anyway, this tale is great. I also like how it reinforces my view of fairies as they are in the Otherworlds. That's it fairytale, back me up XD

In VDBiF, this would be a lion changeling. Given her size, I'd say half-giant, half fairy. (There is actually a tale, Child Rowland, where, by the 'fee fi fo fum' rhyme he speaks, a fairy king seems to give himself away as a giant, but I digress). She turns herself into a lioness at several points in the story. Changeling cloak theory, GO.  In addition, there is a frog described as half fairy who has another kind of magical cloak without which she is nigh on powerless - a cap of roses. I'll probably have to draw the frog too.
Again, this fits with my 'changelings are half fairy and have stunted magic, hence the need for a cloak' thing I have goin' on.

Anyway have a half giant, half fairy, half naked lady.

Happy New Year!

I read this story too! It's one of my favorites! (It's one of Madame d'Aulnoy's fairy tales.)

Actually, in most French fairy tales, fairies are far from diminutive creatures. Usually they're at least as tall as humans. Fairies being tiny is actually more of a British/Irish thing.
